Ergonomics
& Human Factors in Industrial Engineering
Swarts
Engineering is dedicated to the practice of Industrial Engineering,
in both the traditional and the contemporary sense. To that end,
we limit ourselves to serving clients only in the areas of the profession
where we feel most qualified by training and experience to assist
them.
Traditionally, Industrial Engineers (IE) are known as the Productivity
People since they are usually found in the manufacturing arena
where they search for the best way to produce a product. Their serving
men are Kipling's famous Who? What? Where? When? How? and Why?
that underscore all of their investigations, analyses and improvements.
The hallmark of the IE is the constant search for a better method
of carrying out any activity. Accomplishing that task will result
inevitably in the greatest good to all involved - satisfaction and
equity for those performing the task, and cost effective control
by those who manage the operations.
Contemporary application on this search can be found in the
Human Factors area - the relationship between People and
Machines - and in the ongoing development of the field of Ergonomics
- the relationship between People and their Environment.
The traditional Workplace Layout is now Work Station Design, and
the Job Description is a Functional Job Analysis. Nevertheless,
they continue to be rooted in the traditional Investigation, Analysis
and Improvement at the work site.
We have been involved in Industrial Engineering and Rehabilitation
work since 1973. As a result, we can offer Consulting,
