Sisters
The
Houston SST chapter is planning an eventful packed weekend just
for you! Our 8th Annual Reunion will include a
weekend of literary enjoyment. Come prepared for a weekend
of fun and fellowship as we embrace our 8th year of assembling
together creating magical, memorable moments.
Activities
will be held at the San Luis Resort, SPA and Conference Center on
Galveston Island, a five star luxury resort hotel located right
on the beach. The San Luis SPA is the essence of nature in combination
with traditional spa remedies, superior guest services and attention
to detail which will define your weekend experience. Indulge and
escape with a unique array of massages, facials, body scrubs, wraps
and baths as well as a Boutique and Full Service Salon.
The
San Luis also offers a heated outdoor swimming pool with Grotto
style hot tub. The facility has a soothing and relaxing resort feel
to it. This prestigious site includes plush grounds and landscaped
gardens along walkways and paths making the most of the natural

Houston Chapter was founded in February 1992. There are 30
energized, excited "Beautiful, Bold, Boastful" Houston
sisters eagerly awaiting your arrival on Galveston Island.

-- On Friday, April 25, 2008, members of Sisters Sippin Tea from
across the country will travel to Houston, Texas to be a part of
the seventh annual Sisters Sipping Tea Reunion Sip. The theme
is "Carnival on the Bayou". Carnival (the French
pronunciation) meaning "reveling
or time of revelry; festivity; merrymaking".
The
3-day literary reunion will include some of the country’s finest
African American Authors. Sisters Sippin’ Tea has
evolved from three to over twenty chapters representing Texas, Oklahoma,
Ohio, Virginia, Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, Illinois,
Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, Delaware
and Cairo, Egypt. This will be a fun-filled weekend, establishing
and renewing old friendships, discussing books, and meeting
with some of the country’s finest authors.
Readers
will get an opportunity to meet and greet their favorite authors
as well as be introduced to up and coming authors during workshops
and panel discussions.
In
our fourteenth year of existence, we continue to grow, generating
enthusiasm and excitement in literacy and reading for pleasure.
This literary journey has been invigorating and as soothing as a
cup of herbal tea. We continue to support and promote African-American
authors, for it is their gift of story-telling that has remained
the catalyst for Sisters Sippin’ Tea.

We
just experienced a most exciting and enchanting weekend at the 7th
Annual Sister Sippin' Tea Reunion in Short Hills, New Jersey hosted
by the NJ SST Chapter. We salute our NJ Sistahs for a most "memorable"
weekend spent with a collective group of supportive, sensitive,
sassy, soulful sistahs all in the spirit of "Sippin' Tea".
We are truly Blessed!
It is with sheer joy and pleasure that I announce the upcoming SST
Reunions:
* 2008 SST Reunion hosted by our Houston Core Chapter sistahs!
* 2009 SST Reunion hosted by our Cleveland,
OH sistahs!
* 2010 SST Reunion hosted by our Dallas, TX sistahs!
Sistahs - before you jump at the opportunity to volunteer for the
coveted
2011 SST Reunion....let's hold off and reconsider going to a Bi-Annual
Reunion schedule, "2012". Rationale: every other year
would allow individual chapters the opportunity to plan a Chapter
Retreat for their
respective members. At some point, we run the risk of losing our
momentum
with low attendance. Think about it....and share your thoughts.
I hope you share our excitement, joy and enthusiasm for what is
yet to come!
